7 Rules for Saving Money💰

Here are 7 rules for saving money that might save you one day:

  1. Allocate your income using the 50/30/20 Budget Rule: 50% for needs (food, housing, insurance, utilities, transportation), 30% for wants (travel, fashion, entertainment), and 20% for savings (emergency fund, debt payments, investments, retirement).

  2. Follow the 1% Rule for Impulse Buys: If an item costs over 1% of your annual gross income, wait three days before purchasing. This helps curb unnecessary spending.

  3. Use the Rule of 72: To estimate how long it will take to double your money, divide 72 by your interest rate. For example, at an 8% return, your investment will double every nine years.

  4. Maximize your 401(k) Match Rule: Take full advantage of any employer 401(k) match to maximize retirement savings.

  5. Maintain a 3X Emergency Fund Rule: Keep three to six times your monthly income in an emergency fund to weather financial storms.

  6. Automate your Savings: Set up automatic transfers to savings accounts to make saving a default behavior. This can significantly increase your savings over time.

  7. Apply the Item In, Item Out Rule: For every new item you buy, donate, toss, or sell another to maintain balance and prevent clutter.

How to Minimize Overeating 🍪

I⁣f you are having trouble with overeating, there can be some big reasons why you continue struggling.⁣

Overeating is something that affects so many people. Please know that you are not alone. You are not a failure if you overeat.⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣The last thing you should do is beat yourself up because you ate more than you planned.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Beating yourself up because you overate is only going to make things worse!⁣⁣⁣⁣

To be completely honest... during your weight loss journey, you are going to slip up and you are going to find yourself in situations that might lead you to overeating. (special events, holidays, etc.)⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

It’s NORMAL!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣Here are some reasons why you might be struggling with overeating⁣

  1. You are eating too quickly. Instead of inhaling your food, try chewing thoroughly and mindfully.⁣

  2. Your diet is too restrictive. The mind wants what it can’t have. If you convince yourself you can’t have that cookie, you will want to eat 1000 cookies.⁣

  3. You are constantly bored. Find some hobbies that are not food-related. Take your mind off the food!⁣

  4. You are not eating enough nutritious food. If your diet consists of mostly highly processed foods, you will never keep hunger at bay.⁣

  5. You are eating straight out of the bag. If you plop a family size bag in front of you, you will want to eat the entire thing. Sometimes without realizing it!⁣

  6. You wait too long to eat. Instead of waiting til’ you’re ravenous, eat when you are hungry! Eating when ravenous can lead to overeating.⁣
