How to get 15,000 hours of your life back ā³ļø

Yes, you read that rightā€”15,000.

This is something I think about all the time.

If you were to reduce screen time by just one hour per day for the next 40 years, thatā€™s how much time you would save.

15,000 hours.

  • Enough time to become a master at nearly anything.

  • Enough time to build a thriving business.

  • Enough time to make hundreds of memories with your loved ones.

Now, this is easier said than done.

Screen timeā€”especially social mediaā€”is a constant battle.

Here are the 3 biggest things that have helped me reclaim my time:

1. The Modern Dumb Phone

I switched to a simplified phone that lets me stay connected without being constantly distracted by apps. Itā€™s been a game changer.

2. The ā€œNo-Powerā€ Hourā€‹

I started doing this about 6 months ago. Every day (or at least a couple of days per week) set a 60-minute block where you donā€™t use any electronic devices (phone, laptop, headphones).

3. Carry a book (or Kindle) everywhere

It's much easier to replace a bad habit than to just stop cold turkey. I always carry a book or Kindle (yes, I know a Kindle has a screen) with me, so I can read instead of mindlessly scrolling.

Most valuable skill you can build in 2024 - Writing āœļø

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Writing is the most valuable skill you can build in 2024 (and beyond).

  • video scripts

  • social media posts

  • sales pages

  • newsletters

  • blog posts

  • direct messages

They all have one thing in commonā€”WRITING.

I owe the vast majority of my success in the last 3 years to developing this skill.

If you want to become a significantly better writer in the next 15 minutes, you only need to read 3 things:

  2. The Day You Became a Better Writer by Scott Adams (creator of Dilbert)

  3. This thread from Kieran Drew

They taught me more than any University class.

9 things I've stopped saying at work āœ‹ļø

Ever notice how people say "sorry" all the time... for things that don't need an apology?

Our words create our reality.

The more we unnecessarily apologize, the less confident we come across

(And it dilutes an apology when you *do* owe one.)

Here are 9 things l've stopped saying at work (and what to say instead)

These reframes are extremely powerful.

But how do we build the habit? The first step is awareness

Ask a friend, loved one, or coworker to interrupt you: "Why did you say sorry?" šŸ˜

That's your cue to rephrase it with a "thank you fo."

The best part?

That gratitude will set the tone for the rest of your conversation

Cheap dopamine is the modern evil šŸ˜ˆ

Doomscrolling social media, playing video games all night, binge-watching TV shows, checking your phone without reason, addiction to porn, craving junk foodā€¦

If any of these sound familiar, you might be addicted to cheap dopamine.

This quick and easy pleasure stimulates your brainā€™s dopamine system (dopamine is a neurotransmitter associated with reward and pleasure).

But guess what?

That pleasure fades fast, leaving you wanting more.

The result?

You canā€™t focus, your motivation is below zero, you procrastinate, you have anxiety, activities that used to be fun are no longer enjoyable, you feel tired all the time, your brain feels friedā€¦ The list goes on.

This addiction is holding you back in every area of your life.

Believe me, Iā€™ve been there myself.
